I heart gasoline, sideways ponytails, & books

And listen I love gasoline, I drink it everyday, but it’s getting very pricey, and who is going to pay?

Today I paid $1.97/gallon at the pump.  That’s why I love Stop & Shop.

I also decided I’m not going to buy any more books until October 8th when The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2008 comes out. I love this series because I get to read stuff I might not otherwise.  It is always an eclectic collection of fiction & non-fiction, comics, politics, social situations, and general weirdness and I can’t wait!

Be sure to check out this video. It is refreshingly kooky. Do you like my ponytail? (I do, I do!) My sideways ponytail? (It’s true, it’s true!)

I think Esmeralda Santiago could write about watching the grass grow and I would want to read it.  In her series of memoirs When I Was Puerto Rican, Almost A Woman, and The Turkish Lover (which I am reading now),  Santiago describes growing up in Puerto Rico, moving to New York with her mother, and adjusting to life here. As I read, I can’t wait to find out what happens next and I can barely put the book down – the same thing happened when I read the first two in the series. In The Turkish Lover, she relates her relationship with a very controlling man that she cannot seem to escape.  Every time she goes back to Ulvi, I want to shake her. I’m rooting for her.
